Why you matter to me…

(About a 4 min read)

It isn’t our past that fully defines us… but the decisions that we make with every step. Stories are important… but they stay in a place that can’t grow… i’ve learned from tragic experience… that the past is… dead… it’s done and nothing can be done to change it… it settles in our histories and in our hearts… but it stays there…

I never knew your father, Howard Amstutz… but I’ve heard the many fond memories… (Katrina says he would have loved me…) I’ve heard the stories… felt the joy expressed… the hilarious nuances… your honoring thoughts of him… you always speak so highly of your Dad which has intrigued me from the moment I first heard the stories…

The beautiful part of a legacy is that it impacts generation to generation… it’s the passing on of what the heart has collected over a lifetime to a younger vessel that can carry the torch to new heights and lengths…

Dad, your life is a powerful example of a legacy… your successes and pitfalls have built you…. sharpened you… focused you… you’ve always risen above difficulties… you are an overcomer at the deepest level… special forces in the kingdom… you don’t quit and carry it with a silent and steady strength and gentleness…

Im honored to know you… to submit to your authority and wisdom… because of your influence, I am who I’ve become today…

Thank you for being a father to me and so many like me… always seeing the potential… the diamond in the rough… always giving without expecting anything in return… when I see you… I see Jesus… and that means the world to me….

Love you dad,

Michael
